What should you do if a large motor dedicated VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) issues an over-temperature alarm? Nowadays, the temperature is clearly rising gradually. VFDs are known to experience overheating, especially during hot summer months when older, long-used VFDs may occasionally trigger high-temperature alarms. Below, let's take a look at the over-temperature fault codes using general-purpose variable frequency drives as examples.

Large motor dedicated VFD Fault Code: Err14 — This primarily indicates module overheating, which belongs to VFD over-temperature faults. The possible causes include:
1. Ambient temperature too high (reduce ambient temperature; install air conditioning if the VFD is installed indoors)
2. Air duct blockage (clean the air ducts)
3. Fan failure (replace the cooling fan)
4. Module thermistor failure (replace the thermistor)
5. Inverter module damage (replace the inverter module)
Fault Code: Err45 — This indicates motor over-temperature fault. Possible causes include:
1. Check the temperature sensor wiring. Look for loose connections and rectify the fault.
2. Motor temperature is too high. Simply reduce the carrier frequency or implement other cooling measures to dissipate heat from the motor.
