We define motors with speeds exceeding 10,000 rpm as high-speed motors. These motors have the following characteristics:
1> High speed (10,000~60,000 rpm), high power density, and compact size;
2> Low moment of inertia and fast dynamic response;
3> High efficiency (overall efficiency ≥96%), direct connection to the load without a transmission mechanism;
4> High reliability (no friction);
5> Ultra-low maintenance cost (supported by magnetic bearings, non-contact operation, almost no maintenance required);
6> Low noise (no friction, no intermediate transmission mechanism).
Currently, high-speed motors are mainly used in the following industries:
a) Centrifugal air conditioners and refrigeration machines: widely used in centrifugal compressors for air conditioning or refrigeration systems;
b) Centrifugal air compressors: including centrifugal blowers (pressure ratio <2) and centrifugal compressors (pressure ratio >2). The low-pressure compressor market will gradually replace gearbox-based solutions.
c) High-speed turbine generators: driven by steam or refrigerant, these generators are increasingly adopted in applications such as standalone power supply, small-scale power stations, and energy recovery systems.
d) Electric motors for new energy vehicles: due to their compact size and light weight, high-speed motors offer promising application prospects in automotive, aerospace, marine, and other fields.
With continuous technological advancements, improved living standards, and increasing demand for energy conservation and environmental protection, high-speed motors are expected to see increasingly widespread adoption.
